Yan Naing Oo was born in Yangon, Myanmar, in 1973. He studied painting at the Yangon State School of Fine Arts from 1994 to 1995, graduating in 1995. During this period, he developed a strong foundation in drawing and painting while cultivating a visual language rooted in observation, memory, and everyday experience.

After graduation, Yan Naing Oo worked as a full-time illustrator for several well-known Myanmar magazines, including Face, Myawady, and Ngwetaryee. Creating illustrations for poetry, short stories, and novels allowed him to explore narrative imagery and strengthen his expressive approach to composition. Since 2000, he has devoted increasing attention to painting as his primary artistic practice.

Drawing inspiration from imagination, emotion, and personal memories, Yan Naing Oo creates works that move fluidly between the remembered and the imagined. His intuitive approach allows images to emerge naturally, often reflecting moments, feelings, and impressions that have remained with him over time. Through this process, he transforms personal experiences into visual narratives that invite reflection and connection.

Throughout his career, Yan Naing Oo has participated in more than eleven group exhibitions in Myanmar and internationally, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, and the United States. His works are held in private collections and can be viewed at Nawaday Tharlar Gallery.
