Zarni Ye Myint was born in 1973 in Monywa, Sagaing Region, Myanmar. His artistic journey began at an early age, influenced by a family environment that nurtured creativity and a deep appreciation for the arts. He first studied watercolor painting under U Lu Tin, U Aung Maung, and other members of the renowned Chindwinyaykyi Watercolour Group, where he developed a lasting connection to the medium that continues to shape his practice today.

In 1993, he moved to Yangon to pursue his artistic aspirations. He later studied painting at the Yangon State School of Fine Arts from 1997 to 1999 under distinguished artists including U Soe Tint, U Than Kywe, U Win Tint, and U Thet Oo, while also studying design with U Kyaw Kyaw Tin. Even before his formal art education, he shared his knowledge by teaching drawing as a guest instructor at several government schools.

From 1999 to 2021, Zarni Ye Myint worked as a permanent studio artist with MRTV under the Ministry of Information, specializing in set design. Alongside this professional career, he continued to develop his own artistic practice, producing works across multiple mediums and contributing illustrations and comics to publications such as Manizota and Seinthamani magazines.

Although he works in a variety of media, watercolor remains at the heart of his practice. Valued for its immediacy, transparency, and expressive possibilities, it remains his preferred medium and a continuing source of inspiration.

Zarni Ye Myint has held four solo exhibitions and participated in more than thirty group exhibitions throughout Myanmar. He has also taken part in international cultural exchange exhibitions, including Poetry of Brush and Ink (Taiwan–Myanmar Art and Culture Exchange Exhibition, 2018) and From Calvino to Marco Polo to Yangon in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in 2023. His works are held in private collections and can be viewed at Nawaday Tharlar Gallery.
